Why Does It Require a WordPress.com Account?

Recurring Payments make it easy to purchase a subscription or become a subscriber on any WordPress.com site — you’ll be able to use the same payment information and manage all your subscriptions in one place. For that, you need a WordPress.com account.

During the checkout process, you’ll enter your email address. If you already have a WordPress.com account associated with that address, we will associate the purchase with that account. If you don’t, we’ll create an account for you as part of checkout. When you complete the purchase, you’ll receive an email with more info and login instructions for your new account.

Who Am I Paying?

If you just bought something (or are about to) from Longreads (or another WordPress.com site offering recurring payments), the transaction is between you and site owner. WordPress.com only facilitates the processing and management of the subscription.

We don’t save your credit card information, either — it’s stored by Stripe, which is the payment processor, so that the charge can renew and you can purchase other subscriptions with your WordPress.com account.

I’ve been organising parties for over 30years – those who know me, know that I know what I’m doing!

This festival is very different as I’ m dealing with police and local council, on a very sensitive subject matter. I want to be able to tun this festival with no mither and all within the law.

I have had a few folk ask why no kids at our PCB Event.

DRUGS
After numerous meetings with police, since applying for the entertainment licence, the event’s drugs & alcohol policy had to be amended in order for it to pass safeguarding issues. With regards drugs, none are permitted on site (if you are found in possession of drugs, the event security team will take over the have the power to deal with it.)

ALCOHOL
I wanted the event to allow people to bring their own, if they wished. This was cleared with the police after much deliberation.
Initially they said the issue with that “if someone under age consumes alcohol and a accident happens, it’s the organisers responsibility” – and I’d be in series trouble and would not get another licence – these things can and do happen, as we all know.

They also said i could apply for a alcohol licence and that way the booze is only sold on site. So any underage drinking would also be the license holder’s responsibility.
Applying for a alcohol licence is something I’m not doing or planning to do .

AGE RESTRICTIONS
They also spoke and questioned me in depth about the age due to the subject matter. I had put a solid method statement on the website outlining all that is to happen.

OUTCOME
So after weighing everything up and having to abide to laws set out in order to protect not only myself, the festival and the attendees:
1) Alcohol can only be consumed on the campsite. Security will be carrying out bag searches to prohibit the transport of alcohol into the main arena.
2) No drugs on site.
3) Attendees have to 18 and over.
